Milk and Honey Cafe
Where do I begin?! Umut surprised me the other day with the cutest date ever. When I hopped in the car, he refused to let me know where we were headed. I had no idea what to expect!
We pulled up right in front of the place and I still did not know where we were ! Despite wanting to go there for so long.
So we walked into the place and the first thing I noticed was the openness and the windows. I know it probably sounds strange but I love a place that feels very open, has huge beautiful windows and has a lot of light coming in. Milk and Honey Cafe, is one of those places that is small but gives the impression of spaciousness due to ample lighting and airflow.
Here, seating is first come first serve and you order your food then take a seat and wait. Initially Umut and I sat outside because it was the only available seat, but a table opened up on the inside, so we moved.
We were given a number and once the food was ready, our number was called. Umut ordered us lemonades which you can see us enjoying in the photos!
When the food arrived I was not surprised with how beautiful it looked, this is one of the things I've heard about Milk and Honey Cafe.
I ordered the Smashed Avocado Toast with cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, fresh mint, sunflower seeds, sprinkled with chili flakes and olive oil, served on multi-grain bread; with a poached egg!
It was so delicious, I never thought about sunflower seeds on something like this but it paired really well!
I was a happy #foodie.
But the fun wasn't over yet! Umut had more surprises, we got back into his car and again I had no idea where we were headed! Then the GPS gave it away once we arrived.
You've arrived at your destination "Ample Hills Creamery".
I was so excited!! This was one of the places on my list of "to go places" !
There, I ordered the salted crack caramel on a cone. The heat in NYC was insane this day though, so it started to melt straightaway in which I had to put it in a cup. Oh well! Umut ordered the lemon ice, he was the smart one and asked for it in a cup from the start. :P
Umut also ordered this soda stuff:
Cheerwine Soda! It was really good! If I could describe it, I would say it was a mix between a root beer and a cherry pepsi. I'm not crazy about root beer but I liked the way this stuff tasted. It gave me the impression that they put some sort of spices inside of it, but it wasn't overpowering or overwhelming, and the sweetness was just right!
After, the ice-cream business, we went to Caesar's Bay and walked around by the water. It was a super hot day though, with barely any wind, so we ended up leaving shortly after.
